A Glance of the Past

“What if I can go back in time?” This is the first question that came into my mind when our group decided to visit places with relation to Rizal, for our project in RIZLIFE. I felt excited about this trip and at the same time, I consider it as a quick escape from all the technical work and activities that we have in school. I also consider this as a good chance to spend some quality time with my friends. :)

One of the places that we visit is Intramuros. It was originally a Malayan Muslim settlement before the Spanish period in the Philippines. The first thing that I took notice was the towering walls that enclose the area. The place was design base on the Spanish architecture. The road were build in rocks as well as the dungeons, were the prisoners are kept. It is really amazing to be in a place like that. The feeling is quite different that I even shiver when we went down into the dungeons. I was also surprised by the museum that they have for our national hero. He’s pictures were displayed in the walls of the museums. The spectacular art works were placed in a transparent mirror so that visitors can have a good look at them. Of course the Noli and Fili were also there in the museum. He’s wardrobes were also displayed as well as his bones (Wow!). The fact that our national hero has a personal touch with these items is really astonishing for me. All these tributes to him really amazing..but for me, the best thing that we can do to really appreciate him is to apply his principles and beliefs in our everyday living.
